Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi

Special Envoy on Gender and Vice President, African Development Bank

Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi is the Special Envoy on Gender at the African Development Bank (AfDB). Prior to joining African Development Bank she was the Director of United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Democratic Governance Group and a board member of United Nations Institute for Training and Research. She has served the South African Government for over 14 years in various positions, including as Minister for Public Service and Administration and as a Member of Parliament. Ms. Fraser-Moleketi was instrumental in mainstreaming gender issues in South African government policies. As a member of the South African Cabinet, she engaged in various ways with the Organization for African Unity, the African Union and the Commonwealth. She continues to make impact on the same based on her role as Special Envoy on Gender for AfDB, thereby impacting on key policies and funding commitments to alleviate the status of African women.
