Amb. Raychelle Omamo
Cabinet Secretary Ministry of State for Defense, Kenya
Ambassador Raychelle Omamo is the current Cabinet Secretary Ministry of State for Defense in Kenya. As a Lawyer and former Ambassador, she started her own law practice, Omamo & Omamo Advocates when she was only 23, where she practiced law for 19 years.
She made history as the first woman Chairperson of the Law Society of Kenya. She was also the first woman Ambassador of Kenya to France, Portugal, The Holy See and the Republic of Serbia.
Omamo also served as the Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Kenya to UNESCO and a former Vice President of the East Africa Law Society. She was also the Director of CoSec Solutions Limited, where she provided oversight and advice regarding the formulation of corporate governance training programs.
She has contributed to the development of legislation and policy as a member of different committees and commissions and has also served in various other professional services including; Council Member of The Law Society of Kenya, Member of Auctioneers Licensing Board, Council Member of the Pan Africa Lawyers Union, Council member of the Association of Professional Societies of East Africa, Member of Advocates Benevolent Fund Board , Member of the Council of Legal Education Kenya, Vice President and Council member of the East Africa Law Society. Omamo is also the current Board member of the the newly constituted of Legal Education.
Omamo has also contributed to the advancement of the rule of law, the fair administration of justice and the protection of human rights in Kenya and in Africa. She has received various Awards from different institutions in recognition of her exemplary achievements.
