Women and the Economy

Objective: This session will frame broad discussions on women and the economy paying attention to the role of African women in various sectors such as trade, agriculture, export sector, care economy, work and wages. It is intended to take cognizance of the contribution of women to the economy while paying attention to areas such as care economy and the value of unpaid care work. The session will provide a space to rally participants to commitments related to the one million women initiative – that will bring all participants together in an initiative that will touch on the lives of one million women in the continent in 2016/2017.
